“The paintings are internally lit, and done on things I find around the city”
Born in New York, Andrew Gibson moved to London at a young age and has been based around South London for the past thirty years. Spending time in numerous roles like art therapy, music and postering, he met people and experienced things along the way that developed into understanding energy and how all things can shine out.
An excerpt from his bio, Gibson says “The posterer’s eye-view is one from the centre and one from the edge at the same time; the centre of the city”. He makes artwork where paintings are lit and designed on things found around the city such as old furniture, lamps and signs. Having a week at our event, Artist Takeover, his work brightened the gallery and told its own story.
